Types of Filters in Schoolytics
Schoolytics allows teachers to filter their student data in a variety of ways. This article describes how to use the date filter. Other filter options include:
- Class filters
- Group filters
- Assignment tag filters
- Assignment status filters
Where is the date filter?
The date range filter is at the top of every page. Simply click the calendar icon to change the start date or end date.
How does the date filter work?
The date filter in Schoolytics allows you to limit your search to a specific window. The date filter returns any of the following:
assignments created during the date range
assignments turned in during the date range
assignments with a due date during the date range
This means that if a student submitted work within the date range, it will show up in your results.
What is the default date range for the filter?
The default date range is the last 30 days.
When should I change the date filter?
If you want to see student activity that is outside of the last month, change the date filter. For example, you might want to:
- Set dates to match your marking period
- Set dates to show the last week
- Set dates to show the last quarter
- Set dates to show the entire year
How do I set the date filter for the student Progress Report?
The student Progress Report reflects the date range on the Student Profile. So, to change the Student Progress report date, simply change the date filter on the Student Profile. Keep in mind that the same date filter rules above apply to which assignments will show up on the Student Profile and the Progress Report.
Trouble-shooting the date filter
Why does the date filter change for every page?
At this time, the date range filter resets to the default setting (last 30 days) each time you visit a new page. Our team is working on additional features for customizing the date filter this year.
Can I set the date filter to match my school calendar?
Currently, it is not possible to set or save the date filter across pages and site visits. Stay tuned for updates to our date filter functionality this year.
How can I tell when a student turned in work?
There are several ways to find out when a student submitted an assignment.
- The Student Work Table shows all student activity for all assignments.
- The Student Activity tab on the Student Profile shows all student activity for a single student.
Why am I seeing results that are outside the date filter?
The date filter will return any results that were created, turned in, or due within the date range. First, check if the student turned in work during the date range set.
